9 Ways To Stay Safe When Waiting For Roadside Assistance

It’s happened. You’re stranded roadside. Whether you’re locked out of your car, out of fuel, have a flat or – heaven forbid – have been involved in an accident it is always at the most inconvenient time.

Safe Waiting For Roadside Assistance

Now is the time to be grateful that you took our advice and saved our number in your phone for any future motoring emergency.  You’ve made the call and now you have to wait.

We’ve assured you that the wait won’t be long, but still, waiting (even for a few minutes) on a busy road or highway can be dangerous (and nerve-racking).

That’s why we’ve put together this list of tips to remind you of what you should do to stay safe while waiting for our emergency responders to arrive.

  1. If your car has broken down, move it to the side of the road, the shoulder or the emergency bay so you are not blocking the traffic. Do this as soon as you notice a problem, you don’t want to wait until it’s too late and your car won’t move.
  1. Make yourself visible by turning on your hazard lights to show other drivers that you’re having car problems. When it is safe, take your early warning device and place it a few meters behind your car to alert the other motorists. This is also a sign to our responders that you are waiting for us.
  1. If you are not able to move your car, and it’s possible, get out of the car and wait for assistance in a safe area (near the side of the road). Make sure to remove all children and pets from the car.
  1. While you’re in your car make sure that you and all your passengers are wearing your seat belts at all times.
  1. Never stand in front, behind or next to your vehicle.
  1. If you’re inside your vehicle keep your doors locked until you identify the professional who is there to help you. Be very cautious about accepting help from strangers.
  1. If you’ve have been involved in an accident don’t move the vehicle until the police have arrived.
  1. Keep a roadside emergency kit in your car for such situations.
  1. Keep calm and don’t forget that Silverline Towing has a team of experts on call around the clock who will be with you soon.
